In this 4,000 sq. ft. auditorium addition to Bauer Wurster Hall, I sought to again extend the existing language of the structure and Project 01, employing the implied grid to dictate my form. This grid of 8'x 8' squares became the foundation for my plan and sections, with its offsetting, extrusion, and push/pull manipulation forming the language of my cubic form, now two levels. The auditorium-over-lobby is pushed to one corner to create a square-in-square plan, with the circulation pushed to the resulting L space, converging on the second level. The ceiling light table permits light to the circulation space, while preserving the black box nature of the auditorium. The grid convention is pushed to its extreme once more, with bisecting voids between interior spaces and circulation creating unique moments of intersecting sight lines.
