A tongue-in-cheek exposition building for the Hoo Hoo Lumberman's Fraternity, this 1915 Bernard Maybeck structure exemplified order shrouded in quirkiness. Using the structural axonometric to peel back the various layers composing the structure, I sought to place both the rough, redwood bark exterior and milled, clean interior skins in conversation to convey the strikingly different experiences put forth by both "shells." In this corner condition, Maybeck cleverly placed the lavatories within faux-trunk structures, which I latched onto and set out to exemplify. Having the "natural" and refined in constant dialogue is the theme of my drawing, with each subsection of the roof, wall assemblies, and even foundation highlighting the many skin conditions being built-up to complete this monument to the life cycle of the 20th Century California lumber industry.
