This curation of a series of sketches made during our three class field work exercises in downtown San Francisco and West Oakland highlights the importance of place through a focus on identity and intention. The invaluable assets which are street furniture and novel architectural styles to an urban space having a unique identity is critical, as they are the holders of the history, culture, and values of past designers and the public alike. it is specifically through urban design with which a community’s story is conveyed.
