01 | Capstone Project I

This first chapter of a semester-long graphic novel project explores an assigned site, a liquor store, along Martin Luther King, Jr. Way in Oakland, California, with particular emphasis on how the site’s culture and history were influenced by the addition of elevated BART tracks through the median. I aimed to showcase how residents and activist groups, like the Black Panther Party, were taken for granted and disregarded, leading to its dismal conditions today.
